The 777 challenge

I was tagged by Nathan Hystad, master of the spooktacular story, and Teresa Edgerton, Goblin Princess and fantasy author extraordinaire, to take part in the 777 challenge.

The idea is to pick any page ending in 7 from a work in progress, post 7 lines from it, and then pass the ball on to 7 other awesome writers.

This is a piece from page 17 in the middle grade novel I’m working on:

“Do you think I’m being sent to the war zone?” Scrap could hear the naked panic in his own voice.

Byte shook her head. “No. None of the other kids showed up on the army lists, either. I checked. The transfer requests are from something called Canyon Technology, right here in Colorado. I tell you, something’s fishy.”

“Then I don’t want to go,” he decided. “Maybe I can run away.”

“No one ever runs away,” she answered. “They’d track you in an instant.”

So there you go, a tiny taste of Scrap and Byte and what they’re up to… 😉

Tagging: (apologies if any of you have already done this!)
